About OFE Growers & Canned Produce
OFE Growers, Inc., a 501.c.3 nonprofit, partners with Oak Forest Elementary School, 6400 Kingwood Glen Dr., Humble, TX 77346 in pursuit of achieving a better understanding of the science and math that surrounds us through nature.
OFE Growers funds the 5th grade math, science, and organic gardening program and maintenance of the school vegetable gardens, orchard, and pollinator beds. During the summer the gardens continue to produce vegetables and fruit. Produce from the 5th grade gardening program continues to be offered to those 5th grade students that continue to help in the gardens through the summer. At the end of the summer a significant amount of produce ends up being canned and offered to the Oak Forest community in return for a contribution. These funds are used by OFE Growers, Inc to help supply the seeds, plants, fertilizers, garden tools, and garden supplies that are needed to operate the gardens.
Working with the students is very rewarding as can be attested to by the numbers of volunteers that help make this such a fun endeavor. That said we are always looking for volunteers to help pay it forward! If you think you might be interested in helping with the OFE Gardens please don't hesitate to get in touch with our president Eric Vogl at [email protected] to find out more about the program and to set up a time to visit us at the gardens.
We thank those of you that already support us and our scholastic community and look forward to getting acquainted with those of you that wish to do so in the future.
