Exercise 3: Averages, and Fair Share
Sarah turned in vegetable weights in decimal form instead of pounds and ounces, but we know that students at Oak Forest can handle it. Tuesday’s recordings were 6.5 lbs. and 8.3 lbs. She wrote down 3.4 lbs., 8.7 lbs. and 3.2 lbs. for Thursday. Finally, Saturday’s weights were 7.0 lbs. and 3.18 lbs. Can you find the average weight per day over the 3 days recorded? Also, if all of this food was saved and divided by weight to one class of 25 students, how many pounds should each student receive?
Extra Extra credit: How many pounds and ounces should each student receive?
